Bhaktapur is the oldest and biggest Royal Palace in Kathmandu valley which is known as Bhath Gaun (rice village) before 15th
century. Entire Kathmandu Valley had been ruling from Bhaktapur by Malla King after his death then his three son divided Kathmandu Valley into three parts and spent Hugh amount of money for building Durbar Square (royal Palace) with strong competition as a result Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur Durbar Square had been flourished with beautiful traditional art and architecture. Actually the Bhaktapur Durbar Square is located about 15 km east from Kathmandu.
The Bhaktapur is the Newari Town with people of devotees and they are more traditional than Kathmandu and Patan. The people of Bhaktapur love to preserve their traditional culture, art and architecture with keep following wood and stone carving, agriculture, weaving cloth, painting and pottery production using wooden wheel then giving shape and size are main sources of income. Religiously and culturally they are strong enough how celebrate cultural and historically festival with generating to new generation. There are so many beautiful artistic Temple and building are: Fifty Five Window Palace, Golden Gate, Line Gate, Pashupati Erotic Temple, Shiddhi Laxmi Temple, Nyatpol Temple, Vairab Temple, Bishnu Temple and Pottery Square are the main attraction of Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
The Changunarayan Temple is located 7 km north of Bhaktapur Burbare Square on the hill-station. It is supposed to be Oldest Temple in Bhaktapur which is dedicated to Bishnu. It was build in 4th century during the regime of Mandev. This Temple also known as an open museum because there are lots of stone and wood carvings related to Hindu epic Mahabharat war and other important spiritual sign and symbol. There is everything unique with very impressive and there is nothing to compare. We can have wonderful view of Kathmandu valley and Himalaya as well.
