The eighth-highest Mountain Manaslu 8163m is in Mansiri Himal of the Himalayas, located west-central part of Nepal.Tibetan call ‘Kutang’ and the Mountain name Manaslu comes from Sanskrit word ‘Manasa’ means intellect or soul. It was first summited by Japanese Mountaineering Team in 1956 and known as Japanese Mountain. Besides Manaslu, it is also home of other 7000 high peaks, intact Tibetan culture and wide variety of flora and fauna. Manaslu region welcomes thousands of tourists every year for mountain expedition and trekking adventure.
The Manaslu region offers various beautiful trekking trails like: Manaslu Circuit Trek, Tsum Valley Trek and Tsum Valley Manaslu Trek. The Tsum Valley and Manaslu Circuit Trek is the longest trail, which normally starts from Soti Khola after 7 hour drive from Kathmandu and ends at Besishar after three weeks. These trek requires restricted and conservation area permit which cost 100 USD per week (September- November) and 75 USD per week (December- August) and Tsum Valley 40 and 30 USD per week depends on season and trekkers have to travel with group of at least two person with licensed holder guide from authorized trekking company, because, individual trekkers are not permitted for trekking in this region. Now a day there are opening lots of lodges and home stay so trekkers can complete the journey using local accommodation without carry camping gars.
The trek follows the ancient salt-trading route along the Budhi Gandaki Valley enjoying with lush of greeneries, countless ups and downhill, varied Gurung villages off the beaten track in the lower part of the trek before entering the upper Tsum and Nubri Valley. Tsum and Nubri are the famous valleys inhabiting two ethnicities which have separated at Chukker by the branching river of Budhi Gandaki east and west. Tsum Valley shares more traditional Buddhist art, architecture, instinct culture lifestyle than Nubri, both valley have awe-inspiring ancient monasteries, Chorten, Mani wall, breath-taking view of Mountains, glacial lake, wide variety of flora and fauna. Nunneries, animal husbandry, chanting Mantra, practicing Polyandry system are day to activities of life. They follow distinctly Tibetan Buddhism so it is also known as Himalaya pilgrimage trek. Lark-La (5106m) is the highest point of the trek and you can easily witness the spectacular view of Manaslu, Ngadi Chuli, Himalchuli, Siringi Himal, Buddha Himal, Cheo Peak, Himlung Himal and Annapurna massif crossing various climatic zones and ends the trek at Dharapani and catch jeep to Besishar or also walking.
